New guy on the block with lots to learn. I just started turning pens a few weeks ago and I am having a blast. I am looking into casting my own blanks. Molds are on order, 4 for the price of 3 thanks to Charlie. Pressure/Vacume pot in work for the cost of a few pens, and PR purchase to come shortly.

When you put an object on the pen tube such as a decal, sticker, stamps etc... do you need to put some sort of protective coating on it to prevent it from discoloring? If so what do you use?

I think the answer is yes, no and it depends.

Some materials can leech color, some can bleed, some can melt and some can
do some funky stuff. It all depends on what you are casting, what you are casting with
and how the materials are prepared. Some people use white glue, some use CA,
some use un-catalyzed resin, some spray acrylic or lacquers.
It really depends not only on your item, but the combination of item and
casting media. There's a lot of combinations, so I don't think there is any
particular one-size-fits-all answer.
