Hello everyone, I have just started turning this year. My friend Lorbay who is a member here, We work for the same company but live 800 miles apart , he turned me on to working with a lathe. I am a autobody technician by trade and love taking things like a "smashed car" or a "block of wood" and turning it into something nice. I have been making wine boxes for 15 years my wife makes her own wine. I love the smell of wood (weird eh) and the more grain the more I like the wood. Although I've only made 7 pens , if you count how many times I screwed up I would say it's more like 20 but it's been fun . I have not worked since 2008 because of an illness but am not letting that hold me back so I have a lot of spare time when I'm not sleeping . I'm glad I have a bud like lorbay who has given me some pen kits and has spent the time showing me how to use and sharpen my tools . I hope to learn from this group as well . I wood like to show some of my pens when do one good enough to show.
