I've just cast a stamp like tube and it looks like the resin is starting to be absorbed in to the paper and tube is becoming visible will this dry out or is it a fail thanks .Frankie.

i would call that a failure. Did you paint your tube any color? Does the stamp have wet appearance, like it got wet at one time? If so, you should seal the stamp prior to casting with some thin CA and that should fix that problem. Can you take some pictures and tell us more about how you cast it?

Would spraying with clear or decal sealer work?

i did'nt paint the tube but I coated the covered tube with that white wood glue I am thinking that when the resin cures the heat will dry the paper I hope Frankie.

doesnt white wood glue typically dry clear? If you have the ability to powder coat tubes then do that, or you can buy them pre-painted, or you can paint them yourself, but IMO powdercoating is the way to go. Once you apply the stamps, i would coat the entire tube with CA and let that cure for at least 48 hours before casting.

Yes it did dry clear but it was the resin that wet it I'm hoping when the resin cures the paper will return to its original colour Frankie.

It's a fail...Thr resin soaked in and wet the paper making it transparent. My method is to, after applying your labels on the tube, give it a coat or 2 of thin CA. I put the tube, with the label on, on the lathe and apply 2 coats of thin CA using my finger with a nitrate glove on. Let cure at least 24 hrs then cast with P.R.

Good Luck

yes it is a fail caught it at the gel stage and cut the tube out to try again another day thanks to all for the advise cheers Frankie.

I use ModPodge from Michael's store(guess you can get it just about anywhere though). Just make sure you use a very light coat and allow to dry for a good while.
A small jug of MPodge has lasted for almost two years, and it isn't even half gone.

Scott (don't forget to seal the ends) B
