Was wonting to cast some blanks in black and white (Cow pen) and having trouble witht he colors bleeding.

Can anyone help with the process.

Tried waiting for it to gel, but didn't seem to work.

^ You'll have to get that right down to the minute. A minute too late and all it's going to do is squirt back up at you through the hole you punch. A minute too early and it'll just blend all together.

If you want a definitive cow splotch pen, I'd:

1. Cast a thin block of black. Cut it into shape with something like a scroll saw. Like little puzzle pieces.

2. Paint the brass tube white.

3. CA on the pieces. You could probably use a file to concave the back side of the pieces to get more contact.

4. Cast in a white CA.

5. Turn the pen down to the black pieces.

That's how I'd do it. Injecting would just be near impossible I'd think.

I cast a ton of PR blanks but when we want to make a 'cow' pen, I buy a blank every time. Trying to cast a perfect one is fraught with peril and we would never get the money out of it to make up for the angst (and waste from failed attempts).

I'd just as soon pay an extra dollar and know that I'll have the blank that I need.

Hi,

Mabe you can make the ribbon the same color as one or your two color. The same color side should blend with the ribbon and make you a two color with large "bloob"
Hope i'm clear :)

It is possible but I had to stand over it with a stopwatch. View 1 is the outside of a 3 blank cast. View 2 is the inside.

Is it any different casting colors like this in alumilite vs. PR? I have some PR and i'm debating about switching to alumilite if others can convince me....
