I was inspired by another thread asking about casting chocolate in silicone molds. So of course, I decided to try casting chocolate in resin.

I used Cacao Nibs for the cast. Best smelling resin I've ever cast!

Things are REALLY soft though. Much softer than coffee beans. Gonna take some care getting the things turned. Care and lots of CA.

Anybody else tried this?

The other thread was making chocolate to eat, you want to make a pen with chocolate... Hmmm, I want to see it when you're done!

This will need a slogan ... something that includes - doesn't melt in your hand!!!!!!
LOL .. I can't WAIT to see this since I'm a definite chocolover :)

Good luck, post the pics when you get it done

I have used cocoa powder...

both milk and dark chocolate.

Smells great when turning.

Hi Don,
Have you ever heard of Carob chips? They are supposed to be a healthy replacement for chocolate. They do not melt as easy but still look like chocolate chips. Health food stores usually have them. I am wondering if they would produce a firmer blank. Just a thought.

The nibs don't seem to melt bad. But there was *some* discoloration of the resin. I've got a piece on the lathe right now that is getting finished (waiting for me to have a minute to finish it). I didn't color the resin so I'd have an idea what it looks like, and painted the hole for the tube white. It's a kind of dirty beige now that I've turned it down.

Definitely needs color added to the resin. :(

Ive also used coco powder in PR with success. Also had great resultes with hot chocolate and cut up some small cast white rods for marshmellows. My daughter snag that up. lol
