AMAZING!!!

I grew up there, but in just a short half-century, they have changed:eek::eek:

So, I am going to be entertaining during the Chicago Pen show this weekend-- please indicate some AFFORDABLE places to have dinner. Ideally, quiet--great food, under $50 per person for dinner and non-alcohol costs.

Thanks for any suggestions---I have transportation, so it doesn't have to be near the show (near O'Hare), but that would be preferred.

Gibsons, HarryCareys, Ruth Christ are all more expensive than I would prefer--just for a reference point.

Grab a DOG for lunch! Chicago Hot Dogs are among the best in the world!!

 + :dog: =

Ok, I'm resigned to paying over $50---Thanks!!!

Lou, your place looks good!!! But, since my guest is coming from Europe, I'll probably do the Harry Carry or Lawry's route. (British cut, you know!)

Still open to suggestions, however.

Bubba gump shrimp co. at Navy Pier. Google it and check out the menu. Plus Navy pier is always interesting.

I would skip. Not very good service and the food is just okay. When you come to Chicago you need to eat at Chicago places, stay away from the chains.

Harry Carry's is pretty cool, but the parking is lousy. If you are going to spend Lawry's money go to Fogo de Chao (about $85 a plate, but the meat is incredible, plus it is ALL you can EAT!!!) http://www.fogodechao.com/

Wow...$50 a person for food? I'll buy you dinner, be happy to, but we better be going somewhere for a maximum $20-25 a person!!!

If my guess were right, since the person is coming over from Europe, it could be someone who has access to cool product for Ed to add to exotics. We wouldn't want Ed to miss out on getting some more cool products to sell us :)

+1 for Fogo, which is a Brazillian experience restaurant....you can't top their selection of meats, but check out the website to make sure it is the type of restaurant you want for entertaining clients.

Alternatives are the Black Ram in Des Plaines, or Nick's Fish Market in Rosemont...both more traditional "fine dining" places.

I will highly recommend Harry Caray's. Can't speak to the parking that someone else mentioned because I was in a hotel close enough to walk. The food was excellent and the service was second to none. Our waiter was absolutely top notch.

You know this "Dean" guy is NOT "just another pretty face!!":biggrin:

I saw on the food or travel network there is a hotdog place somewhere around downtown and the server's, especially the big black lady curse at you while you order and if you don't curse back you don't get served. Looked like a fun place, and really crowded, especially after midnight. Not expensive, but the salesman would never forget you for taking him there!

After spending several hours on a plane, then landing at the same hour you took off, I don't expect to be seeing him vertical at midnight!!! I think I have a workable plan, now.

Ed,
Of course with you from WisconSIN (emphasis added), how would anyone expect you to know about anything else besides cheese, and fermented whitefish heads.

Then again, the way I see it, these people from Illinois don't know alot about pizza or hot dogs!!

And lastly, I still say LEGENDS. The only thing in Chicago that I envy them for.:music::music::music::music::music:

Oh boy, did I just type all this??
