Found this little cherry tree that just had to come down. Had to take the Jeep into the woods a bit to bring it out though. Found myself some nice cherry burl on it too. :D The nice thing is just yesterday I got my big 16" Walker Turner band saw running. I still have to do a little work before it's 100% but man does it cut sweet!

My little cherry haul. ;)

Do you need directions to my place, or do you know the way?[:D]

I've got some drying from last year. Not any burls like you have, but it was free.

There may just be some in there for you Phil! I need to build a sled for my band saw to hold them and I can't do much resawing until I have made a new shaft for the lower thrust guide. W/T used a 40mm x 10mm bearing and the closest I can buy is a 16mm x 40mm. So I want to make a "sleeve" to press over the original shaft and turn it down on my metal lathe to the 16mm so I can use normal bearings. Either that or just turn a whole new shaft. Problem is that the shaft has a "V" groove that I can not replicate in my shop.

Lee, sometimes you have to let go of that Yankee frugality and cough up some cash. sounds like a job for a machine shop at least putting the v-groove in. BTW I'm up in Canada this week so will not get a chance to send off those El Grande parts until Friday. It was a two day trip that has turned into four days.[:(].

Beautiful haul. Would you are possibly someone else care to tell a new guy the steps you will go through to perserve the cherry wood before you begin to turn it.

I need all the help I can get
