Or something like that. ;) This is my first "goblet"... and a bottle of vino to go along with it. Turned from a small, downed branch of Sequoiadendron giganteum (Giant Sequoia) I picked up last year. It was fairly straight, so I thought what the heck, I'm gonna turn it and see what it looks like inside that bark. :D

I couldn't believe the colors. The goblet has nearly all the colors of the rainbow in it... the photo doesn't show the vibrancy of the colors at all (dang it). It was split to begin with, and the more I worked it, the more it continued to split, so I considered myself lucky to end up with it all in once piece.

Also worked on my Pen-in-the-Hat project this weekend, but it's not finished yet. :D

Weekends are just too darned short... :(

Thanks Charles and Dario. I wasn't even planning on turning a goblet when I started, but when the bowl of it started taking shape, it seemed like the logical thing to do. I'm still amazed at the colors. I'm sure they'll change over time, this should be interesting to watch.

Very pretty Nancy! You're progressing VERY quickly! I haven't even tried to turn anything this complicated yet!
