... Any Texans know how Cooperas Cove faired in the big blow? I sent a fill-in PITH to OZZY and was wondering if his town handled the storm well... anyone heard from him lately? Hope all is well...

Dave,
I'm a Texan, but currently living in Tennessee. Cooperas Cove is a name I haven't heard in a while... waaaaaaaaaay back when I was in high school, I worked for a young man that ran a small string of movie houses... he was born and raised in CC... He Played in a band there as a drummer and one of his band mates was Johnny Horton - Battle of New Orleans...

To answer your question, My son lives in Bastrop just south of Austin... CC is north/northwest of Austin. My son said he didn't even get any rain from the storm, so I would guess that Ozzy fared well.

My Sister in Law is in The Woodlands, just north of Houston and just south of Conroe.. She's without power, cell service and general amenities where she is. Entergy - the electric company there says it may be up to 4 weeks before they get power back on... The Woodlands is a very high dollar neighborhood, I'm thinking they are just covering the backsides and won't let power stay off too long there... too much money and political power in the area.

Parts of Houston in the inner city never lost power, lots of flooding though. I lived in the Houston area for 25 years... many of the places the news shows devastated were very familiar to me.

Talked with my daughter in Pflugerville (just north of Austin and about 45 miles S of Cooperas Cove. Wind and some rain but a no major damage. Storm tracked more east and basically ran up the east side of Texas.

I'm doin' fine, except for being overloaded at school; I'm taking four English classes this semester. Also, work has been very busy. I worked 39 hours in three days. I work for a Walmart distribution center, the volume has been very high due to the hurricane relief effort and covering for the distribution center in that area that was closed because of the hurricane

All we got from Ike was a little wind and some clouds. We got very little rain, not enough to talk about.

I am anxiously waiting for the pen that you have sent Dave but unfortunately the USPS moves like the entire continent is being hit by a hurricane.

I will let you know as soon as I get the pen that you have sent me.

Thanks for checking on me.
