I am going to do an experimental pour tomorrow, using a coloring agent that is very cheap, and very colorfull. The only two downfalls are: The colors are all single solid colors with mo pearl or anything, and the colors aren't really made for being used in this application.

I am going to try to do a pour with this tomorrow, but I may not get to it. I will let everyone know how it goes.

Ron,

So what is this inexpensive colorant? I'm wondering if it's the same thing I'm going to try, powder paint?

I bought some red, yellow, black and white. I'm wondering if mixing colors will work?

Anybody tried this?

John

no, not powdered paint. And to be honest, i havent set down to do the math to see how "cheap" this stuff is, but it stains the carpet when my kids were growing up drinking it by the gallon. And the big fat red sweaty guy really liked busting my walls..... OHHH YEAHHHHH....lol

know what it is now?

Actually, i was just joking around about the stain part... Take it from a 2nd Generation Floor covering Installer, KOOL-AID Will come out.. If you do it right. As will pretty much anything else these days, with the Olefin stain resistance, and the fancy new chemical cleaners.

I have used it as hair dye, clothing dye, and probably a couple of other apps i cant think of... Figured it couldnt hurt to try, and maybe i will get lucky and it will smell like Kool-Aid. How KOOL would that be?!

FAILURE!

There seems to be enough coloring to change water to the desired color, but not true for PR. It turned an ugly semi transparent gray color.
