I am making Xmas ornaments and am useing spray can lacquer for a finish. I need to vent the smell from spray. I am useing a small box to contain the spray and I need a cheap way to vent it. Any suggestions?

1. Hook up your dust collector to a hole cut in the box and instead of it going into a bag, run a hose outside, this is definitely the easiest if you have one and will remove the most fumes from the box.
2. Obtain the 2 following items: http://xoxide.com/12vdc-psu-4pinmolex.html and http://xoxide.com/yate-loon-highspeed-120.html hook them into your box and either let the fan help to just dissipate the fumes into the air or run it through a hose outside/away from your spray area.
3. If you want to go all out: http://www.gamerabaenre.com/spraybooth.htm

I built a perminent pain booth for the dura coat for gun refinishing, but you could do the same with a large cardboard box and pick up a duct booster from home depot. The duct booster will suck out the fumes. To vent it outside you could use flex-duct.

I Would be real careful about venting the fumes from the spray lacquer into your DC system . That stuff is very FLAMMABLE !!! You have a large bag filled with fine dust and an explosive gas ... one spark and BOOM !!!

Mount the fan onto the box over a hole then get a hose large enough to fit over the corners of the fan. then take about 1/2 of the hose and just screw it right onto the box with that 1/2 inch of the edge of the hose. to do this method you might want a bit smaller fan, like this one:

How would you hook a hose onto that fan?

You would run a a hose outside from where the bag usually goes, and with a dc system, there is a large enough airflow that the fumes are dispersed to much for it to ignite in any way, i have been doing it for about a year now...
