I got lucky on craigslist last night. I found a brand new, never used, never gassed or oiled Husqvarna 455 chainsaw with 20" bar and chain for $220. Woo Hooooo.

Now I can trash the leaky McCullock!

That's a good deal, I got an Husky too 14" bar and work as a dream never have a problem with it beside buying chains:D if I was you I will not trash your Mc Cullock and keep it for small job at home you never know.

Now go to see your neighbour to try your Husky:D

I recently bought a craftsman 14" electric since my yard isn't that bog and I needed it for yardwork. I was planning on a gasser , but after treading the reviews on this little craftsman and seeing the price ($45 on sale) I figured I could manage replacing it if it was a dud.

I used it to lop off the tops of 70 4x4 pressure trated posts the first day, an some odd trimming the second. No problem at any time. My neighbor has a downed tree that I'm going to cut up once we get a break in the weather.

Congrats on the find. Looking on google for prices, you got a good deal. Looked like they are around $400 new.

I recently got a stihl 260 pro to go with my stihl 044.

I am a weekend warrior with the saws but there is nothing like a powerful dependable chainsaw when cutting trees.

Happy cutting
Chris

Never used a Huskie, but I've heard good things about them. But I'd sure own one if I could find a new one at that price. I have a 28 year old Homelite XL with a 20" bar. She's worn but when the chain is sharp, she still likes to eat. I hate to imagine how much wood that saw has cut. She's trimmed a many a Christmas tree also.

If you are seriously hunting for something, Crazedlist.org is your friend. Search multiple craigslist sites in one click. Step it up a notch and use the RSS feed capability so any new post that matches your crazedlist search term shows up in your RSS reader in near real time. I was notified of this saw about 8 minutes after he posted it. I had responded by 10 minutes and owned it a couple of hours later.

Now I'm monitoring "Powermatic" and "Lathe" for my next gloat. :D

Good on you Greg.. I just had to buy a new saw this weekend to help a neighbor cut up a hugh oak... 51" dia at the base.. some nice burls... I had a 33cc Poulon that I had converted from a 14 to an 18 inch bar.. right in the middle of my cuts on Thursday it quick and the pull rope would not turn... my small engine repair man said it looked as if I had broken a ring.. needed a new cylinder kit.. a new saw would be cheaper...
After reading some reviews on several sites including some bad reviews of the Husqvarna, I settled on a Craftsman 40cc with an 18" bar... caught it on sale at the local Sears store that is closing and everything was 30% off... For the amount of wood that I will be cutting, it's a good buy for me and works well...
