Chuck,
The one key that I may have missed in the above links - is that the kerf and the lamination must be the same thickness. I have spent considerable time working on what Gerry mentioned above. Because I like the thin rings, I have been looking for thin kerfed blades. I am basically researching what I want to accomplish before I start. I have finally found the blade and also lamination material* other than wood that will match the blade's kerf thickness.
* I have found brass and aluminum sheets in .3mm, .5, .8 and 1mm thick, along with hobby plastic sheets of a variety of colors of the same thickness. My problem is finding blade kerfs that match these. I can find blade kerfs here of 1.3mm, 1.5, 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0mm thickness here. It is my understanding that Freud or maybe someone else makes a 1/16 kerf 7 1/2? inch blade in the States.
Of course, when I start making some Celtic knots, I will make some from wood laminates, but I wanted the freedom to use other material. For this reason, I decided to research to get the most flexibility from blade kerf choices. I am making a "table saw" from a circular saw just for pens. I am on my second "table" in design. When I get this perfected, hopefully in August, (If I can find the expected time), and I will post some picts of it.
