Anyone have a recommendation for a new cell phone? My Razor died tonight after 2 years of hard service. I have not looked at anything new but was looking for something rugged with lots of memory to store contacts. I don't need anything for e-mail or texting or music. A camera might be nice but isn't needed.
Thanks for any suggestions on either a good one or one to stay away from. I am on cingular/at&t service.

iPhone all the way, baby!! I am on IAP right now via my iPhone while away from home. This is by far the most incredible phone I have ever had.

I'm not sure why I'd want a phone that connects to the internet...or plays music, takes pictures, or follows me around wherever I go...

I like my plug-in phone that stays at home so I can avoid it when I want to. I wouldn't have an answering machine either, but I need it for work...

I'm with Andrew. My tried and true cheapy phone got me through three years before it died a couple of months ago. A couple of weeks ago I got the new Boulder for free, since I'd waited so long to upgrade, although I had to sign up for another 2 year contract to get it. It's your basic cell phone, much like my last one, ruggedized to military specs (drop it in the toilet, throw it out the window, cover it in sawdust, etc.). I've only had it for a couple of weeks, but I'm very impressed. It's only basic stuff, but it has a decent camera and video, it's small, and has PTT if I ever need that again. It's also got a built in compass (you know, when I'm so far out in the bushes that I don't know where I'm at, and I happen to have my cell phone with me) and GPS navigation.

You want music? Get a real iPod. I've never had a need to surf Ebay while I'm out in traffic.

:)

Guys,

Read his post! He wants a tough rugged phone that will do the basics. While an Iphone may be incredible, it does not address his needs. Go to your service provider and ask for the toughest basic phone they have. As Karl mentions, there are military specs phones out there.
