A thread a little while back by Bobostro featuring a red cedar vase inspired me to mount up a big blank and give it a go myself. Here is the result,it is a vase/future flower pot shaped like a huge goblet. It is 11" tall 6"wide and 8" hollow.Took some finessing to get to the bottom of the hollow portion, dam near had to rest the ferrule on the tool rest to get there.

That is a cool piece...really a good job....
the third and fourth pictures look like a big egg on a pedestal stand... when I get my lathe back up and running, gonna have to try one of those myself... I have a big pile of red cedar out behind the shop just waiting for me to turn.

Thanks fellas,I'm thinking abou having a dry flower arrangement made for it to give my mom on her birthday coming in a couple weeks.

Your welcome Bob.I sent it off to the flower shop to have an arrangement made for it.I'll get a pic up when I get it back.
