I recently snagged a piece of dyed spainsh oak burl. It was the last piece in stock and so in my infinite expertise... I ruined it. This was the LAST thing I turned on my crooked mandrel. On one side, the blank is slightly overcut, and on one side, slightly undercut. Too much so for a CA fix, however (about 2mm)

Is it possible to cast this beauty in PR to beef it back up and then turn it back down? Will it affect the color (it is dyed slightly green)? I am planning on buying a jr. sized resin saver mold anyway. I REALLY do not want to just toss this one out, considering that it's one-of-a-kind-wood and the cap section is all squared away.

Any ideas?

I do that when I've overturned or chipped out a .. um.. I mean
I've repaired OTHER PEOPLE'S blanks when they've overturned
or blown out a blank.

Like Monty said.. turn it even (for consistency) throw it in the mold
and pour clear resin over it. Turn as usual.

Of course, this only happens on the really nice blanks, right?
Fortunately, it's salvageable. And the PR makes a nice finish.
