Casting Question?

I was eating a cup of Jello today and wondered if any one had ever tried using one of those cups for casting? might mak a good bottle stopper mold.

Chocolate ones will work but Vanilla ones wont :biggrin:

Never tried them, but I got 10 empty pill bottles from our local pharmacy (total price: $0.00) and they are reusable.

Before that I was using the plastic bottles the kids vitamins came in, just cut the top off.

I use the emptied Meow mix PP food "cans" to pour pendants and for overflow casting and bits. The cats don't mind after they are empty.

Just check the Recycling code to make sure the plastic's compatible.
(I don't recall which codes to use/avoid offhand, but if you search the forums
the info's here)

I put a post on my local freecycle list for pill bottles and in a day had
about 4 grocery sacks full. That's what I use for bottle stopper molds.

yeah what Jason is saying. Some plastic cups just become part of the mix via melting.

I use the dixie cups. They have a wax lining and when done just peel right off. You can get them cheap. My little prop was poured in one. Just one note and that is I use Similar41. That stuff does not heat up as much as such things as Craft-n-Cast resin.
