First attempt ended up looking like an elementary school volcano demonstration. Then was able to get a piece of stabilized burl into a blank. Finally was able to get a little color and sparkle while using some pine cones from the yard. Now I need to learn how to position the wood to show off the best figure in the blank, but I'm getting there thanks in large part to the help received here at IAP.
