Casting prickly pear cactus?

Hi all my question is this when casting prickly pear cactus do you try to make it round before you cast it in alumilite, and if so how do you keep it round? thanks for any help Neil

I've seen it done by gluing the skeleton to the (painted) tube, then casting that in PR (or Alumilite).

Either way would work.. Gluing to the tube or laying the strips down and adding the alumilite, then cutting into blanks if your doing slabs.
