g'day,i have been making pens good and bad for many years and over the past three have been concentrating on clear casting using epoxy clear casting or laminating resin it can be a pain in the butt especially when the weather is lousy ,but i use a vacuum tank @23inches of vacuum .my moulds are silicon made from my own pattern 60mm long and 20mm diam i use a turned mandrel to fit the tube of the pensize inserted into the mould when the resin is bubble free usually 20mins i pour in the resin then insert the photo that i have previously wound around a spindle 1/2mm larger than the pen tube . the carrier of my mould is actually a piece of electrial conduit 70mm long with a cap on each end with a hole in them to keep the mandrel centered in the mould i hope this makes sense typing is not my forte.email me if i may assist
