I was searching for any threads on using any glow in the dark powders. I was thinking of casting some black/green bottle stopper blanks. And thought would be cool to add some glow to the green.

Has aonyone done this? I mean at least mixing the glow into other colors? I used the search thread option but didn't really see anything on it. I thought that when mixing the green with some silver, then mixing in the glow powder. Probably wouldn't take much. So when mixing these, do I add the hardener before the dyes or after? I've casted clear resin before, but never mixed colors yet.

Any advice, links or websitesto look at is greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

I can tell you that if you mix enough glow powder in the resin to make it glow
and stay in solution, you'll have a rock hard blank.. tough on the tools.
The resin will only take so much of a load (5%?) unless you get a marble or
onyx type resin that is meant for higher fill. So if you use enough to get a
good glow, it starts falling out of solution. The only fix for that is to add more
powder till it CAN'T fall out of solution!

yes, I have done it, and they will be for sale on my website soon. Some were mixed with mica, different textures to give a pearlescent look when not glowing, and some mixed in conjunction with other colors.

I've made a bunch of Glow in the dark pens . here's one that I posted here

You don't need allot of glow powder to get a good glow , I only added 2 popsicle sticks worth (a small pile on the end of the stick about the size of your little fingernail) to the white pen and the moon-glo blanks used 4 sticks worth to make the 3/4" x 5" blanks that I broke up to make the chips .

If you want to experiment there are some glow in the dark polymer clays. You just knead, shape, fire in the oven, and finish. I have not used the "Glow" clays a great deal but the effects are pretty cool from what I have seen. At least it is another option for you if you want.

Where do you guys get glow in the dark powder?

Try Glowinc for starters. There might be less expensive stuff out there too,
but watch out for the luminance .. you don't want a powder that only
glows for 10 seconds or it glows for hours, but beneath your level of
detection.

Thanks everyone. I'll have to play around a little. I was able to get one of those Michaels 40% off coupons and got some PR the other day. Then they gave me another one on the receipt. I'll get some of the Pearl Ex powders next. But thanks for the tips. I'll post one when I get it done.
