Would like to clear cast a "small fishing fly - (feathers)" for the top of a bottle stopper. Can anyone provide some direction as to how to prepare the "fly" for casting ?

Thanks

Mix up a colour for your background in the mold, before it sets rock hard (tacky) put your flies/hook on top and let dry then pour your clear on top.

Lin.

I've just done the very same same thing but cast in wood on the bottom end of razor I'm making. I just popped the fly in and cast. Came out perfect. (apart from a tiny little air bubble)

I'd suggest not using one that's been in the pond recently unless its dry :)

poly spray will help keep the fly in a specific position so if the feathers are falling flat for example then thats the business, otherwise I dont believe it to be necessary.

I'd imagine poly spray would also help keep the flowers from breaking apart which wouldn't (shouldn't) be a problem with a fly.
