I went to the Demo in Georgia that Brooks803 put on. I bought my mold from Fred(Ptownstubbie) and got my resin with a 40% off coupon and my mica from the makeup counter at Belk(free samples)

Here is my first try at it. It was supposed to be a 2 color swirl like Jonathon does but I found out shortly after adding Catalyst why plastic cups are not preferred(melted) had to pour to quick so swirls were gone. I had a blowout with the other half of the blank so this is what I have to show for it. I tried again to get the swirl and 1 of my 2 colors geled before I poured, so I will see in next day or so how they look. Tried a 3rd and not sure what its gonna do. might need remedial training on when to pour them exactly. Thanks for looking and by all means give me pointers.

Well, it looks good to me. Maybe not what your were aiming for, but still a nice pen in a pretty color.

I like it. Just remember...Harry Potter couldn't get his Magic Wand to work at first. Jonathon has had lots of practice with his (the little wire thing he swirls and twirls the resin with). I'm almost certain I heard him chanting a Magic Spell as he poured the resin into the mold. Too bad we don't have a copy of the demo tape to be sure.:biggrin:

I hope to be showing off my first cast soon. Brought home a couple of Fred's molds from the meeting. Picked up all the cups, stir sticks, Pearl Ex, etc. over the past two weeks. The Silmar 41 is on its way. Won't be long now.:biggrin:

For your first pour it looks nice. Even if it wasn't what you were aiming for, I like it. I'm willing to bet some of the best blanks are the results of "accidents"
