I am trying to cast cloth in PR using a pressure pot. Most blanks look like the PR has air between it and the cloth. Any suggestions??? I need to add that the cloth is wrapped around the brass barrel.

Just wrapped or glued also? It needs to be glued. Try mod podge...glue the fabric...when dry apply another coat...when this one dries...apply another. Let it all dry for a couple of days then cast.

Or, search for denim and try the procedure others use for making denim pens.

Good luck and ...

The denim pen used spray adhesive, tried that but the tubes keep sliding out after casting. I am using CA to attach the cloth now. I will give it another attempt tomorrow.

The fabric may have a repellent coating or sizing which is preventing the resin from wetting the surface. Try saturating it with thin CA and letting it dry before casting so the resin can adhere to the CA. Other idea is to saturate the cloth while its on the tube by dipping it in resin (no catalyst needed for this stage) making sure the entire surface is wetted. Third idea is to soak the fabric in solvent to remove any repellent, letting it dry and then casting. Also be sure the fabric is very dry and not outgassing.

A note on spray adhesive

I tried this with some of thy first label casts. The PR appears to dissolve teh adhesive. Something that works really well for me is to CA whatever to the tube, then coat with a layer of PR (or two), let it cure, then cast.

dunno if this is the correct place to post this but what would be the right size carbon fiber sleeve for going over a brass tube for a 7mm or 10mm pen?

I'd have started a new thread, but the question's here now... I'd have to say get sleeving the same dia as your tube. If it's a 7mm tube, get 7mm sleeving.
