I would like to cast some bottle stoppers blanks using Alumilite. What is the best material to use for the mold? I will not be using a pressue pot so need something that will not stick. I will be using a mold releas spray.

i use 1 medicine bottle. the walls of the bottle are straight, and the blank slides right out. I have made 10 or so blanks with this pill bottle and it just keeps on giving!

The nice thing about using a medicine bottle is it also gives you a center mark for drilling.

I just use 2 to 3" pvc from big box store cut to length you want use tape on bottom (I use blue painter tape) pr will just slide out and you can use them over again.

I think it was Curtis that said PVC is not good to use with Alumilite because it does not shrink and will not release. May want to check with him on that one.

a dixie bathroom cup works well too. Just turn it away on the lathe...

I've tried the paper cup with success but the plastic cup might hold it's round shape better....I don't know if the plastic would react with the alumilite though....?
