I have not done any casting for a very long time. I have some tiny acorn caps I brought home from a vacation. Would it look better if they were cast in clear, clear with color or solid color? I was thinking maybe a clear color? They are totally dry. Any hints for casting?
Any thoughts?
I also have some pine cones but they are not tiny, about 3".
Should I cast them in a large block and then cut to size, or cut the pine cones in half the long way and then cast them?

Personally, I prefer clear casting things like acorn caps (3-D items). Then I can reverse paint the blanks and tubes any color I want.

Clear casting gives a cool effect but you have to get a good smooth drill, takes some practice and patience. If you don't get get a smooth drill hole it would probably show up. I like a little contrasting tint you still have transparency and it helps hide any drill marks you mite have.

The big problem your going to have is them floating. Your going to have to pack them into your mold. Then put something on top like a couple pop sticks. Then cast under pressure to help with trapped air.

Start experimenting have fun:biggrin:
