Greetings from Nebraska,
Today I tweaked a few things and did my second ever casting pour. The second cavity on my mold didn't seal very good so it leaked a little - thus the shorter blank. I already have a mitigation plan figured out and ready to go for the next time. Here are the details:
Recipe:
Alumilite Clear Slow (360g total = 6 blanks @ 60g each) - had about 1.5 oz. residual and scrap
33% Eye Candy Yamagata Red (Heaping 1/2 teaspoon) + 1 drop Alumilite Red Translucent Dye
33% Pearl-Ex Brilliant Gold (Heaping 1/2 teaspoon) + 1 drop Alumilite Yellow Translucent Dye
34% Pearl-Ex Micropearl (Heaping 1/2 teaspoon) + 2 drops Alumilite White Dye
Poured at 95F (about 10 minutes elapsed time)
Poured about 3 rotations.
Swirled with bamboo skewer on blanks #1-#3. Blanks #4-#6 not swirled.
Under Pressure at 14 minutes elapsed time and at 55 PSI
Demolded after 6 hours under pressure.
Pictures of the blanks follow (front and back sides). I am planning on turning the short blank (#2) tomorrow to see how it looks on the inside. - This stuff is really fun.
Regards,
Dave
