I am making a cane stand for my boss and would like to get everyone's opinion on what wood I should use? See pictures below and let me know...I was thinking of dovetailing the top boards into the sides...maybe contrasting woods...

Very unique concept compared to the usual round container.
It is just screaming for walnut to me. I wouldn't contrast. That might destroy the elegance and make it look garish.

Black Walnut would look very elegant with that great cane stand design. But then on the other hald I really like the look and feel of White Oak.
