Hi folks,
I turned a wall street 2 click pen and use it at work. I'd like to stick with a click pen for ease of one handed use. Can anyone suggest a good kit to look at and try? Are there any click mechanisms that are better than others? I'd like to make some that are bigger around than slimline pens up to the size of wall street 2. I will buy them from PSI, woodcraft or wherever. I was just looking on Amazon for something else and started looking for pens too. The Amazon link below shows all that I have listed below. Are there any you would suggest? Or suggest not getting?
Thanks,
Rob

Try the Tempest from Beaufort Ink. Turners Warehouse sells them here in US. Also the Long Clicker by Dayacom. CheckmExotic Blanks for those.

Best click pen out there is the Coyote click from McKenzie Pen Works. Simple design, best click mechanism available and solid stainless steel.

Ken, I agree the coyote is a great pen, but it's only 5" long, and no extra brass tubes are available, it's a thicker 3/8" brass tube so the standard 3/8" brass tube doesn't work, and $18.99. made in USA maybe but heres a kicker the Pratchett that's stainless steel the nibs will change over

I'm a fan of the EDCs. It's thicker than the slimlines and more "Meat" on the tube for casting. They come in black, aluminum, brass and stainless steel. The only thing is that the clips and click mechanism are all chrome. Other than that I really like the kits.

The Tempest from Beaufort Ink and is sold in USA would be my first and only choice.
Phil ( owner ) has never had to replace a faulty one.

My favorite clicks at the moment are the coyote click, anvil edc and the Big Ben edc. I prefer to stay away from plastic click mechanisms. I made two of the stratus clicks because they were affordable and both mechanisms failed relatively quickly

If you are looking for a thicker click pen definitely check out the Big Ben edc

Thank you for all the replies. I apologize for not responding sooner. Work and life had gotten in the way. The tempest from Beaufort Ink was mentioned a couple of times. I like the way that looks. I may try that one out first and couple others later. Even found a couple other things to get from turnerswearhouse.
Thanks again,
Rob

I've admired the Berlin and Hamburg for some time. They are nice looking pens and not all that expensive. However, shipping costs from Europe would make it not feasible for me.
You are right. It is more costly. It is also mine if I import pens from the status. Even a thing like the penswap adds a extra 20 euro's costs.

By the time I went and looked at this a few days ago, they were sold out unfortunately.

Turners wearhouse is out of the bushings for the tempest at the moment.

Rob, sorry to hear the luxor are sold out, I dont think anyone has talked about the new BigBen click from penn state, i just turned 2 and there a great kit, they have the SKM192 clicking mechanism, so there really smooth

Maybe next time I'm in Germany I'll make a trip to his shop and just bring some home with me.
I'm a fan of this kit too. For what it's worth, if you can buy a large amount, th shipping cost isn't that bad amortized over 10-20 pens. Still cheaper than comparable kits using the skm click sold here.

Someone also mentioned the groove. I love that pen too. I think that also uses a Schmidt clicker
