Wow............ Those are some Awesome looking blanks. I think you did this in a previous life. Would it be too much to ask to explain the process you took for this?,and the materials used?, and where did you get the materials? I'm getting ready to jump in and try it myself. Thanks, Donny

I purchased Alumilite as recommended from this forum and after watching this video. Pen Blank Casting with Alumilite White.m2t - YouTube This stuff sets up real quick. I was surprised at how quick I could pour it and then break it from the mold. I hope they turn well but unfortunately I have a real job I have to go to tomorrow and it will have to wait a day or 2 to find out--LOL. I'll try to post pics of the finished product if ya'all are interested. Thanks for all the kind comments.

Very nice blanks you got there. They turned out wonderful.Make sure you post pics so we can see the finished product.

Glad you found the video helpful! Nice work.

Looks good, I am going to start trying to cast, I hope before I use it all up I get one blank as good looking as yours. The only thing I see that would have maybe made it better, was at the end it looks like it was solid blue. May just be a small section, but just noticed that. Like the distinct contrast in colors.

VERY nicely done! Not too swirly and with deep, rich and understated colors running through out the blank. IMHO, the blank should compliment the entire body of work, not overpower it.

These should make some very nice, simple yet elegent pens.

I was under the impression that you couldn't oir at least shouldnt due alumilite without a pressure pot. I thought you would end up with bubbles. Did he just prove this wrong? I am wanting to try alumilite, but not sure about the whole pressure pot thing.

Hey Gary, I'm not using a pressure pot at this point and getting fairly good results but I can see how much better/easier it would be with one. On some of the blanks I have done there are tiny air bubbles but on a few they actually turned out really well. I am going to check into getting a pressure pot though because I'd hate to waste too much material (and time) casting only to find out when you turn it that there were bubbles in the casting.
