I'm looking at some ER32 collet sets on Ebay and both contain either a MT3 or Bridgeport R8 arbor.

Would it be feasable for either arbor to be turned to fit a MT2 rather than just trashing them?

Well, your "best bet" would be a MT-3 to MT-2 sleeve adaptor. IMHO, it's just one more thing to be out of wack down the line. I would suggest finding the proper ones myself.

BTW, you can not "turn" a MT-3 into a MT-3 as the MT-3 is larger than the MT-2

Sorry, I should have explained further. On EBAY there are several vendors selling "18 pc collet Sets", all of which contain one of the "other" arbors. It would be nice to find a set which includes the MT2 arbor but I'v yet to run across one.

Since I already have a Beall chuck with it's five standard collets, I'm basically just interested in the collets, the arbors would just be a bonus and I was wondering if there was an easy way of converting them for use on my MT2 lathe.

Since posting this, I found a vendor who sells individual collets for $8 apiece. Now that I've thought this through a bit more, perhaps the smart thing to do is order the ones I need individually.

Thanks

Check out 800watt. He has ER32 collet sets without the arbors and they will be about $5 per collet. If you buy from this guy you may need some patience. He sometimes is a slow shipper and will not answer emails; but his stuff is good and I have never heard of anyone getting stiffed. I bought an 11 collet set and was very satisfied.

That sounds like a deal, I believe I'll do it.
