I have been having all kinds of problems with my cable and the company has been nothing but rude and uncooperative. I guess when you have a monopoly on the area you can do whatever the hell you want. They have taken away a ton of chanels only to raise my basic costs and then to charge me even more to get the old chanels back. My internet connection has been a major problem too because we have "too much cable" whatever that means, but they refused to install a signal booster. I have been getting more aggrevated with it as time goes on especially when I keep getting calls from the cable company trying to sell me more crap.......Well, today they were told to kiss my A**!!!! I have told them that enough is enough and that they can come by and pickup all their boxes and whatever. It didn't hurt any that ATT Uvers is now available in my area, they are giving me more than 800 chanels plus phone plus high speed internet for less than I was paying before the rates were all jacked up by cable. In 9 days I will take a day off and watch them install their wiring and boxes throughout my house. I think I may just become one of those couch potatoes that I always heard about.

800 channels and there is still nothing worth watching most of the time. I gave up on cable years ago. Service is better with satellite but, by and large, there is very little that I really like to watch.

Can I come over and poke my head in the window while he installs it?
I've wanted to do that since I saw it on TV

I bought a bourgeois house in the Hollywood hills
With a trunkload of hundred thousand dollar bills
Man came by to hook up my cable TV
We settled in for the night my baby and me
We switched 'round and 'round 'til half-past down
There was fifty-seven channels and notin' on

Well now home entertainment was my baby's wish
So I hopped into town for a satellite dish
I tied it to the top of my Japanese car
I came home and I pointed it out into the stars
A message came back from the great beyond
There's fifty-seven channnels and nothin' on

Well we might' a made some friends with some billionaires
We might' a got all nice and friendly
If we'd made it upstairs
All I got was a note that said "Bye-bye John
Our love is fifty-seven channels and nothin' on"

So I bought a .44 magnum it was solid steel cast
And in the blessed name of Elvis well I just let it blast
'Til my TV lay in pieces there at my feet
And they bsted me for disturbin' the almighty peace
Judge said "What you got in your defense son ?"
"Fifty-seven channels and nothin' on"
I can see by your eyes friend you're just about gone
Fifty-seven channels and nothin' on

- Bruce Springsteen

The sad part about all of this is that I rarely ever watch Tv, but without it I would have to actually talk to my family at some point in time. All I find the TV is good for is putting me to sleep.

I had ATT Uverse for more than a year now and love it. It is bundled with high speed internet. I might move my cellphones from Sprint too when my contract expires.

We were with Time Warner prior and they just kept playing with our service plan (and charges) that I gave up on them....and for good too.

BTW, they usually offer you free upgrade for 6 months. Just remember to cancel at the 6th month or else...they will start charging :D.

I gave up on cable years ago. Never did watch much anyway. Only 35 channels with one of those saucer shaped antennas designed for trailers, half of them digital. Still not much on and definitely nothing worth paying for.

Since my Dad moved out, we have had the satellite dish on maybe three times in two months. We're under a commitment for a while longer, but when that's done we're getting it disconnected.

I have heard-tell of some people that choose what TV they want to watch, and when they want to watch it, by downloading it off the Internet. It sounds darn convenient to me!

Scott.

Scott, I have teens, all they do is watch each chanel for 30 seconds and then move on. TV A.D.D But we all know that if they are asked to do something, they want to do it after the movie that just started is over. Did I mention that at one point I put disconnect switches in my shop that controls each TV seperatly.....LOL Like I said, all the TV does for me is put me to sleep.
