Can I use epoxy to glue items to a tube ready for casting?
I am asking as I tried using CA on a snakeskin and it turned very dark but it also got a white powder effect in patches all over, which totally ruined the snakeskin:mad:.
Has any body got any advice please???

I can't be much help here, Martin. That time I did use epoxy, I got the same result as you. So, I just don't use it anymore on embeds.

Andy, just to be clear ... are you saying you got the same results with epoxy that he got when he used CA?

A PM to Its_Virgil (Don Ward) would be my next step. Not only is he very willing and helpful on most pen questions, he has cast about a gazillion pen blanks. You can trust his advice.

Don Ward and I both use CA with good results. I have used thin and Medium. My first question is who tanned the skins, not all tanning methods work with PR. Most skins will turn black if improperly tanned. Second the white powder effect could be air from under the scales.

Lenny. Yes I did.
I don't know exactly what the problem was? Some local tanning experts here said that the tanning process was likely the problem, but I laid it off on the glue and never tried again.

Thin CA seemed to work, but still darkened the skin, So I just don't do skins.

My apoligies, I thought perhaps you had misread the question.
