What is every one using for CA Glue? I have been using Glu Boost and was wondering if there is anyting better. What is everyone else using?
I have been a member here for a good many years. Ever since I started making pens back in 2005 the go to CA was Hot Stuff from Satellite City. I started using then and still use it today. For me I know how it works and what to look for when it doesn't which basically never. It makes for a great finish that polishes to a high shine. You can look through my threads and postings and see many examples. I have always responded to this question with the same answer. I hear all these things about Gluboost and they maybe true but will say this all finishing products come with a learning curve and problems that can come up for many reasons at any time and do not let anyone tell you differently.
You will get a varied list of CA glues as well as reasons they use it but what does it mean? Just that the person using it has figured out a method to use that product and NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO one is not better than another. You will hear flex glue mentioned because we make pens. A gain I can direct you to the many heated threads about this right here on this site. Scientific numbers thrown around and all that but again it comes down to opinions and that is all. So good luck in your quest and take all answers in and you may have to buy some to try for yourself. Could get expensive but again your choice.
Your response made me think and hopefully the OP will respond. We use CA for glue and also as a finish. Now, as I stated, I use GluBoost, but only as a finish, I never use it as actual glue. I'm not sure which use the OP was referring to.It would seem that I was perhaps one of the first to argue for flex CA for good reasons. Also, being a fellow old-timer here, I can vouch that every word you stated is accurate. I have always, and even to this day, continued to say that the proper tool for the job is that there is no one size fits all, and indeed, the same applies to glue.
So, it is subjective and based on what you are doing and trying to accomplish. For the CA work that I do, glue-boost and other brands fall very short of the job. For other jobs, another label would be better.

Have you or any Gluboost users tried Masterglu as an adhesive. I was thinking it might work really well in adhering segments when using a soak method. I realize that many CA's could be used for this purpose, but i haven't seen anyone talk about it here. I've also seen many extol the beauty is the companies accelerator and wonder if it works with other brands adhesives.I use GluBoost, but only as a finish, I never use it as actual glue.
I too use Hot Stuff from Satellite City. I have tried most all popular brands except Glu Boost. Hot stuff works great for me and I see no reason to try any other brands.Ever since I started making pens back in 2005 the go to CA was Hot Stuff from Satellite City. Hey Ed yes you were involved with those long discussions and both being here as long as we have we have seen this question come up so many times over the years. Yes again to how it is used and what are the final objectives when done. Also as mentioned each and everyone of us live in different climates, different temps in our work areas, different application methods and the list can go on. And over those years many brands have been touted and claimed to be the total answer but it just is not true. Not one shoe fits all and that is why I say it may take some trial and error and could get costly. But if they are looking for the perfect CA to use for all applications, I wish them well. Take the info given in this thread and also go back and read the hundreds of threads concerning CA glues and make intelligent choices. I can not express it any clearer without getting into war of words that lead no where. Good luck.It would seem that I was perhaps one of the first to argue for flex CA for good reasons. Don, my Dad always told me if it ain't broke don't fix it and That CA has worked for me for so long both in finishing and adhering. I am not totally sure but do not think formula has changed any over the years. just the packaging. I have tried Titebond because I got some from my lumber yard years ago for free to try on gluing exotic woods together because I use to buy a ton of them from him. Also tried Mercury because someone gave me some. Now I will say I probably did not give much attention to the trials because I had in my mind the Satellite glues were working well for me.I too use Hot Stuff from Satellite City. Do a good turn daily!

Me too " What Curly said"What is every one using for CA Glue? I have been using Glu Boost and was wondering if there is anyting better. What is everyone else using?
The old saying- You dance with the one who brought you.I've used many brands over the years. I used EZ Bond for years but eventually found cracks in the finish that may have been from the accelerator or from not being flexible, idk. I now use Gluboost Fill and Finish…. For Finishing. They work as adhesives but are made to be used as a finish… (orange, blue and teal labels). They have an adhesive line also which is not flexible …(green and red labels). They all have their purposes. I like the finish I get with Gluboost which is why I use it. Their accelerator doesn't cause issues with the glue finish like others do or have with me. If you have something that works for you and don't want to try something else, stick with what you know. I don't think anyone here can say which is best because most of us haven't tried everything on the market. Some don't want to try new products or are happy with what they have. For me, I was in search of improvements and found it with Gluboost. I get a better finish in much less time, and I use less glue to do it.
KenB259 had a couple of threads about it last year in fact.Anyone tried one of the oily glue types, like Tree Frog Glue, it's claimed to not stick skin, which would be an advantage to a messy bu@@er like me.
If yes how did you get on and what brand did you use.
I did try 3 different brands but either I was sold a fake product or it's identical to normal CA, including sticking skin.
Anyone have any luck with this product, if yes what brand did you use.
