Wow!

Great piece and I love your photos. The lighting is exceptional and brings out the warmth and character of the wood.

That's another beauty. The burly parts remind me a bit of elm burl while the purple areas look like eastern red cedar... Amazing piece from some wonderful wood.

Dude, that's very cool and all, but I hate to tell you there's a big hole in one side :)

seriously, beautiful work on a very difficult piece. Has the boss already decided what you are going to do with it?

Exceptional piece. The only thing I would change is to lightly sand off all the little "squiggles" along the edges of the hole.

Since "she" doesn't care, then you get to keep ALL the money it brings in when you sell it.

George, that is a fantastic bit of timber, I love the shape and a beautifully done neck ring, Like David Keller, to me it also has a look of eastern red cedar, What type of finish did you use? It must have been a bit hard to do.

thank you

Fred: the squiggles simply rub of when the piece is dry.

bitshird: finsihing is the easiest bit of the job- wipe on some lemon oil before i cut it off the lathe and then once the piece is dry apply a uv inhibitor oil which is just wipe on wipe off
