Jim Feagans hosted a small gathering at his home today with Frank Stepanski, James (Draken) Gillespie, Mike Shue (with Lillian) and myself. We got to see first hand what 1400 pounds of burl cutoff look like. That's a dang big box of wood!
Jim served gumbo with andouille sausage that would have made William's (wdcav) eyes water. I believe I out-ate everyone. Mike, Jim and Frank brought wood/ebonite to share. I also got a quick lesson on turning a miniature from WET wood. So now I've made exactly 1 bowl, 1 miniature and hundreds of pens. If I'm not careful, I just may become a turner!
A wonderful time was had by all, but I don't think any of us had a camera.
Thanks to Jim and his family for hosting a very fun outing!
