I need to cast a lable blank and have a pen ready at 10 on saturday. Yesterday, I cast it, and it looked fine. Right as it neared the end of its pot life, I got thousends of tiny bubbles around the tube. I tried again last night sealing the lable with thin CA, and although it helped, its not perfect. Can anyone help me with this? I dont have a preassure pot or vacume chamber. Im using water clear alumilite. Any help is greatly apperciated.

alumilite is good product but not for labels or snake skins. Polyester resin is the better choice for what you want to do.
Do a good turn daily!

Since you tried it last night applying a thin coat of CA and can see bubbles again now. You may need to give the CA more time to degas. I've used alumilite on stamp blanks and labels.

My process is apply label, use an acrylic spray sealer over label, wait 24 hours and cast. I got in the habit of using acrylic spray to make sure ink was dry before casting.............. that will make you angry

I agree with Don on this one. Alumilite clear needs to be cast under pressure or at minimum, vacuum to get the best results. Even then, it is not the best option for most "tube in" casting.

yep...as they say, must have pressure, but even then you will not have a desirable pen for long because the alumilite has stretchable properties which over time can make it separate from the tube, or when you install the parts it can stretch it. Pouring a tube and gluing in a tube are far from the same! When glued, the stretching is no longer an issue. You need PR for this job because it is hard. I absolutely love alumilite, just not for this job.
