Hey folks
Well Ithought I needed a big work horse for my wood business so I ended up getting a Dodge 3500 with the jake Break and a few other nice things for heavy loads and pulling. Well with all the new emission crap that they have to have know days. 6 months later its in the shop for a total exhaust rebuild. The catalytic converter is plugged solid. So its going to take a week to get the parts. [V][V][V]

That bad CC is probably identical in all three major brands. Stuff like that is purchased from outsource companies. Hard to understand why a total exhaust rebuild is necessary. Usually only the CC is replaced for about $300.00. A rip-off price, IMHO. Wouldn't all that still be under warranty and the repair free to you?

Hi Frank
Yes its all under warranty. I to asked them why the whole system but they never did give me a good answer, but there is no money out of my pocket. It is something that all companys are doing. In sothern Oregon they just pound out all the ceramic stuff and put it back together and they run just fine. But up here by portland you have to run them through an air quality system to get the new tabs.

Put a high flow cat on. Better fuel mileage.

I'm getting ready to trade in my Chevy 3500HD. Can't afford it anymore with the $1M liability insur. and the price of fuel...[B)]

Might also ask them how long the exhaust is under warranty. If I remember right and don't quote me. All vehicles by federal law have to have a 10 year 100,000 mile emissions warranty. Atleast a Chevrolet I had did. Emissions stuff went bad a about 70,000 miles and they had to fix it for free and that was 15 years ago.
