Last week I poured my very first PR. Then had to make more colors so I have entered the dark realm of addiction.
I have been making bottle stoppers and kaleidoscopes only so far since they sell better in my area.
I have been using Pearl Ex and also Easy Cast PR dyes for my colors. I also have been using my HF paint pot with 60 psi of pressure. Haven't found any bubbles yet.
So far I have been using HDPE containers for my stopper molds. I use vaseline as a release agent. So far the HDPE has held up well for the molds in the three or four batches I have poured. I have noticed that the blocks are getting harder to remove and I think the mold is bowing some with the heat during the casting. I found them in Walmart's travel toiletry section. They would be used to dispense shampoo or soap in a small container for traveling. For fifty cents or a dollar (cant remember) each then make a good mold.
I am looking for other cheap mold alternatives that the same cylinder shape but in polypropylene. Any help in that area would be appreciated.
And now the pictures.
Since I have a bunch I opted to host the pictures from my personal website gallery.
