That is a very cool idea!

The tricky part would be making it easy to change the date but not so easy that the date accidentally changes. Maybe you would loosen the top change the date and then tighten the top to keep the date set.
 
That's an interesting idea, but if you opened the bottle long enough ago that you don't remember the date, chances are you don't need this because it *will* be spoiled :)

The bottle stopper is a good idea if you need one like that.
 
I refuse to use a screw cap. I will not buy a bottle of wine that has one.

I don't care if it's superior or not - I have my doubts, actually - but cork shows that the vinter has some respect for traditions, and in wine, that counts for a lot. Cork's renewable as well, so no issues there.

Luckily, I haven't found any screwtops on my favourite French Bordeaux wines...and I don't think I will any time soon.
