i have a novice question.

Recently I bought a PC board casted pen blank. I blew it up on the lathe last weekend, now I can see inside!

Question, can I have it recast so I can save what is left of the blanks?

Thanks!

.....after this you might sharpen your tools a bit more.

:) I would think I had an issue with the carbide tool edge grabbing and tearing the acrylic...ZiiiiiiiicK... @#$@#@$#

Jim, I'm just saying it because that was my problem on a couple computer :at-wits-end: type blanks last year. Too gone to have a re-do on them! Monies down the drain!

A big part of it was that I got in a hurry. And I finally learnt how ta sharpen  , FINALLY!!, my trusty little gouge...the right way.

(Knocking on wood ) I haven't had as much of an issue since..always crossing my fingers though!
Good luck Jim.

:) No worries, Thanks my friend...I echo your words about keeping all things sharp!

Jim,

were you using the 'square' or 'round' carbide insert for these types of blanks?
What RPM is the lathe running at? Just trying to help. I've done a few of these and had both success & mishaps.

I was at 2800 rpm, and using a round

When I get 'close' to the end, I scale down to 1200 RPM and switch to the 'square' to finish the 'shave' if you will. That's been my best way of
doing these to date. Hope it helps.
