Bookmatching pen blanks

I was out looking at wood today (surprise!) when I saw some bookmatched pieces for guitars. Ding! What about bookmatching a pen blank?

Inquiring minds what to know!

I had a nice cocobolo blank hiding in my drawer just praying I wouldn't start wantonly slicing and dicing on a whim. But hey, I thought about it all day so it wasn't on a whim. It still might be wanton though!

Here's the first cut and glue-up.

I have done this before but took it a bit further... I book matched 4 square rods to make one blank. the square stick was pretty cool but the finished pen was rather blah... YMMV...

How did it 'turn out'?

Great idea Krash now make a pen out of it. Make sure you get the drilling right..
