Bolt action Pencil Kit

I bought a few of the bolt action pencil kits. I've turned a couple of them and when I advance the lead to write, it slips back into the nib so you can't write with them. I was careful when I assembled them and they seem to work okay advancing the lead, but they are not working correctly. Any help someone can provide to get these working properly would be very much appreciated.
