I tried this method to dry my green wood and I found out it is messy. Also my old turkey fryer doesent have the BTU's to boil a 30 quart tub. It took a very long time to even bring it to a boil. Ill let the wood dry for a week and then do a final turn. I hope this works.
 
You only have to completely cover the wood being boiled and be sure to keep it covered at all times. No need to boil 30 quarts of water ... that would be nice as it would keep you from having to watch the pot ever so often.

Yes, it can be messy depending on the species of wood you are working with. You are far better off not using one of SWMBO pots and dedicate something just for wood boiling ... otherwise you might be turning that knot she puts up side your head.

I have used Steven Russell's directions for about three or so years now and have yet to be disappointed.
