Bobby's attempts at Casting

Well too much time on youtube drove me to try PR casting. My first attempt was a disaster so to speak. I tried the clear wrap and tape and the resin blew out the bottoms of the tubes. So then I tried again after purchasing some rubber stoppers and boom no more mess.
Here are some pics I have taken of some of my tries.










Since the first batch with the rubber stoppers worked I have made several more. I have not turned any yet but hopefully this coming weekend I will.

Still going on the castings. got a couple others done. Trying to play around with it while building up a stock.

Looks like you've got some pretty nice blanks there!....keepers for sure!

Post some pics when you get some turned.....even if you turn some as solid blanks to see what you have!

Made some bottle stopper molds today. have one poured up today to see how it does.

Ok, I started turning the bottle stopper today but did not get to finish it. I will try to tomorrow and get a pic up of it.

I am loving the experiments with casting. Here are some blanks I did today. Three of them I used glitter instead of pigment.

And here are the bottle stopper blanks I also did. I was able to attempt to turn 2 of them. Perfect no but they are the first ones I have ever attempted and I used my own castings. I am actually proud of these.

Well after 4 catastrophic failures I have the first pen from my castings.

Sure do. I am worried about the voids though. I will try one this weekend

nice work. in your picture of the glitter blanks I think the fourth blank the purple nad green is a great one. the colors mess well together.
