I'm supposed to find out if I got into the Centra PA Festival of the Arts at Penn State University next week. A lot of PSU alumni come to this event, so I was thinking I'd make some blue and white pens. I think the crowd will connect with items made in their alma mater colors.

Here's my prototype. It's hand poured McKenzie resin. This was made from one solid blue blank, and one blue mixed with white. I used aluminum from a soda can as my separator. I should probably use Yeungling beer cans, honestly (I don't drink, so I've been using seltzer cans).

Thanks for looking! And wish me luck on getting a ticket to the big show!

Very Cool. And of course as imitation is the sincerest form of flattery (Oscar Wilde), I am going to have to consider casting some solid color blanks along with the swirls the next time I pour. I really like how you did your segmenting. - Gorgeous pen. - Dave

good grief your work is exquisite. What a neat way to combine two different blanks and using the can to separate the blanks to be so subtle to match with the plating is awesome.

May I ask which pen type that is? I don't recognize the cabuchon.

Beautiful pen! That blue and white is great looking with the solid blue. I've not done any aluminum segmenting but that sure added to the pen. I need to do some research and watch videos.

Exotic Blanks, Diamond Knurl Rollerball.

BTW -- Antique platings are on sale this week for $11.95.
oh! the reflection on the cabuchon fooled my eye and it looked like it had facets in the top photo. No wonder I couldn't figure out what it was.

I get the weekly emails from Exotic Blanks and saw they have the antique platings on sale this week. Thanks for sharing. They're right up the road and are the first place I shop when looking for items.

I agree! Often simple is better. Both this as well as egnald's previous work is wonderful. đź‘Ź đź‘Ź đź‘Ź
