For those of us in the Washington DC area the war is on. I'm a Building Engineer in Downtown DC and we have started snow removal operations. We are expecting 18-24" here. This winter will set a record for my life time. Two days of planning and preparation. We will be spending the night and most of the day tomorrow moving this mess.

Well, My family and I appreciate the work you do!!! We love to play in it, but I'd hate to have to be the one plowing all night long.
Have fun and be safe!

I just moved to Delaware. 1" of snow freak these people out. What do you think this is going to do them?

Just made the third pass. 6-8 on the ground. coming down about an inch a hour or more. We have 5 guys on 16th street just above Scott Circle. 2 guys at 2 buildings behind the capital. 2 on Florida near Connecticut and 1 on 19th street. In for a break will be back at it in an hour or two.

Posts like these make me so glad I decided to settle in Florida

You have my thanks for your efforts to clear it. I used to own a small trucking company and you guys are life savers when the white stuff hits.

Still, better you then me :)

As someone who's city has been on the national news twice this winter for snowfall I can feel your pain (or at least you'll probably feel it in a day or two). Please keep up the good work because I'm hoping to be able to fly into DC on Monday to attend a conference and I really hate airport delays and cancellations. Good luck. Bob I.

Wow.We have been lucky this year. Not anywhere near that much.Stay warm.If you can work in your shop it would be nice.Maybe forget about that mess for a little while. Todd

The first two picas are early in the storm. The last three are from this morning with another 10-12 hours expected of lite accumulation.

Cheyenne - Queen of the hill!!!
The front yard, notice the bench.
The front yard, where's the bench?
Nikita stepped off the deck and she isn't laying down.
They are attempting to make a path.

I used to live in St. Mary's Georgia, just above the Florida line going up 95. I love the area. I love the beach. Georgia and Florida are great places to live... but since I've lived in this area, I've been loving the snow. I like having four seasons. We'll probably get tired of it one day, but I've got two young daughters and they're enjoying the snow as well.
I know it's not an easy job to plow it all and then find a place to put it! So anothier big thanks to Joe and all the others who have been out all night trying to clear a path for the rest of us...

Yup, we've been shoveling once every 2-3 hrs through out the night and this morning. The stuff is wet, heavy & has not let up. My yardstick measures 22.5" on the back deck and they are predicting the snow will continue until around 9 PM tonight. Another 6 inches are forecast on Tuesday LOL. Its beginning to look a lot like 'Siberia":biggrin:. On the positive side, I inflated the tractor trailer tube and some of us are heading to "suicide hill" with a tube "pile-on" ride. I'm bringing the ole "amber antifreeze" for the ride:biggrin:

Got over 12 inches here on top of the fact that we all get hit by the stomach flu at the same time. I was able to get out and shovel a path to the mail box but the township still hasn't plowed our street yet.

Just completed shoveling, 28 - 30 here.. No snow plow expected to arrive until Wednesday when we are expected to get another 7 inches.

I think I've had enough of "Frosty" for a while!:at-wits-end:

Mike, you know the dogs are loving the snow, My poor mutts are a mud mess, where you have a couple feet of snow, we've got about that much mud, from the snow and ice last week and the rain from this week.

Finally home. I've been out in the truck & Wawa (lol) since 7:00pm yesterday evening. I'm done plowing for a while. I'm gone to bed.

Not bad here in Southern MD. I have shoveled 3 times just to keep it down 12-14 max but I doubt that much.Im surrounded by water it kept the temps up. Most of ours was sleet and real fine snow.
