Bit of bad luck tonight.

On my way home from work tonight the traffic on the highway was a nightmare. Stop and go, brake checks and panic stops all over the place. Three cars in front of me began to slow down and the guy in front of me stopped short and I hit him. Nobody was injured but my car took the brunt of it. The hood buckled just as it was supposed to and both headlights were broken along with the cracked front bumper. I have a $500.00 deductible so it's just a big pinch after the holidays. It could have been worse, instead of riding in the tow truck I could have been in an ambulance so I guess I was a bit lucky after all. :frown:

Sorry to hear about the damage Scott, I suppose no time is a good time but fortunately you or others were not injured. I did that once myself and the damage to my car was over 5K. I just drove through Waterbury last Saturday heading home from spending Christmas with our daughter, her husband and two grandchildren in West Hartford... traffic was a real bear.

Glad to hear you are ok.I had an accident a while back,I was hit in the rear and it knocked me into someone else.Nobody got hurt in mine either(thankfully).Although the Mercedes that hit me did'nt do so well.

Glad that you're okay. Cars have a way of breaking at the most inopportune times. I guess you just have to turn some pens and then sell them to cover the cost of the deductable.

Now I feel sick

I just heard from the insurance company and they are totaling the car.

:eek:I hope that you don't have AIG!

Scott, I am glad that you are OK. That is the most important thing. The rest is now just a challenge for your argumentative skills. :)

I feel your pain; they totalled my daughter's car when some dipstick T-boned her and she was ahead of the curve. Lost $$ on that deal.

I'm glad you're not hurt though.

Still, there's hope:

Have a mechanic look it over for you personally. Lots of times the Ins. Co. will let you buy the totalled car for nearly nothing. IF you can repair it for less than what they value the total for, you might do okay.
Their math vs. the actual damage to the vehicle and the value to you is very different. I've heard of some folks making out well on these things.
Ya won't know 'til you look into it.
Good luck.

Sorry to hear about the accident Scott.. Im glad everyone was safe and un injured. Like you said, it could have been worse.

Scott, I found out a long time ago that when they totaled my car, I could argue it a bit and was able to get what the car was actually worth and not what their books said it was worth.
