Huge Storm just hit here, knocked most the windows out on my house, Destroyed the metal sides and roof of my shop, Everything is soaking wet. I'll have to wait like everyone else to see what the insurance company does and go from there, gonna be a Looooong weekend of repairs. My pick-up was out side(OUCH) Had Tennis ball size Hail(more like chunks of jagged ice). uprooted trees, ripped off roofs around town(not mine on the house at least) Busted off power poles, just got power back a few mins ago. Life pretty much sucks right now.

Landon, I wouldn't worry about the shop and the material stuff. just make sure that every one is safe or you guys take shelter. Rest will be taken care of by your insurance company. It looks like we pissed off mother nature pretty bad. remember we had it on June the 2Nd here then Curtis and them got it next day or two days later. Hope no one is hurt in the family. good luck. Stay dry and safe.

As a longtime insurance agent (commercial only) I can tell you that you should be fine. Other than the deductible, everything should be covered by standard homeowners. One caveat...your tools and woodworking stuff may not be covered if it is "business" property. Make sure it is not "business" property, but personal property (if you get my drift).

PM me if you need anything.

Boy , Mother nature is really getting even with us , your in Nebraska , you guys don't get this kind of weather , just tons of snow .
Glad you and your family are ok , stuff can be replaced .
I ain't got much left but if you need anything just ask and it's yours .

Landon,
I am glad you are alright. I know it hurts but it will get better. Hang in there.

It never fails, as soon as things start going your way (new shop finished) Mother Nature needs to keep us in check.

Let us know what we can do to help!

Im sorry to see you got that much damage. I know how much work and money you put into that garage/shop much less the house.
Mike

Hey Landon;
Sorry to hear/see this. Heard the storm was raging there, my family told me it was west of Valentine. Material things can be replaced, hope the family is all o.k.
Please let me know if you need anything.

Thanks to all who replied here or via PM. Everone is fine, my 5 year old was scared half to death but he will be ok. I did not get to take many pics, used most of the daylight left(power was out till late) boarding up the windows(at least where they used to be). Ever tried doing that with a hand saw? We do have plenty(I think) of Insurance on the house and shop. I'm sure it will all work out in the end but for now I might be spending more time here untill can get stuff fixed, replaced, etc. It is funny(not really) how quickly the lathes started rusting. Within 5 mins of the storm I went to look and the rust was already there. I appreciate all the offers to help if I need it. Take care guys, as long as I have electricity I'll still come visit even if I can't turn for awhile.

Landon, I'm glad you and your family are alright, I know what those storms can do, we had one here last month, we didn't have any hail just an F3 Tornado, missed my house buy a few hundred yards, Amazingly only one person killed and a handful injured. I've never seen that many trees uprooted and twisted off 10 and 15 feet up the trunk. I guess the summer and spring storms are getting worse, I think we need to sacrifice a virgin; I'd volunteer but,#$%@%^& I hope you and your community get helped out as quickly as they did around here.

Glad everyone is ok Landon. Got a pretty good idea what you are going through. Had a kitchen fire several years ago and lost virtually everything above the basement because of smoke damage. House was ok but everything in it had to be tossed. The look on the fire chief's face when he came into my basement shop was priceless. The wife and I were both into handgun shooting at the time. I had about 15 handguns and several hundred rounds for each one along with powder for reloading.

Landon

Sorry to see this happen, I know its tough I was in the same boat a few years ago. If you need anything shoot me a message I would be more than happy to help out in any way

Anyone have a good idea for rust removal off of everything I own made of cast Iron? Seriously stuff started rusting within minutes.

My heart goes out to you Landon. I'm so sorry to see this. Glad you are all ok though!
I can give a personal endorsement for Evapo-Rust, I used it to clean up my flood damaged tools 2 years ago. It works.
