Had a big scare a couple of nights ago. Diane the LOML was in bed and started to feel like an elelphant was standing on her chest and could not catch her breath as the night worn on it got worse so I told her off to the ER we were going. She attempted to get out of bed and could not stand. The hospital is only 5 min. away so I lifted her and to the ER we went.Spent most of the night their and after all the test were made and about six sprays of nitro under her tongue she started to feel better.Seems she has a condition called Tachycardia along with Hyponatremia. Tachycardia was explained to us as a short circut in the wiring of the heart, no known cause. Hyponatremia is a low sodium count in the blood. She is on meds now for the sodium and getting rest for her heart. All should be fine, but what a SCARE..........

Roy, I hope Diane is now fully over it. I'm afraid that I'm not a religous person, so my prayers would be wasted, but my thoughts will be for both of you.
Best wishes

Roy,
Thank goodness all is well, That can be fatal. My wife had something similiar called Wolf Parkinsons White syndrome. It is also a short circuit in the heart that causes the heart muscles to fire out of order. kind of like a car with water in the distributer cap. After a few seconds the heart starts to act like a pump thats air bound. Luckily she was a cardiac nurse at the time. She felt funny one night so she hooked herself up to a telemetry monitor. The read out showed the short circuit. She showed it to one of the heart surgeons who was visiting the floor and he diagnosed it on the spot. She was given medications ans a couple months later she under went a radio oblation. That is where a wire is fed up an artery in the leg to the heart. on the end of the wire is the equivilent of a mini microwave. The doc cooked the muscle fiber that was causing the short and she was instantly cured. Its been about 16 years with no reoccurance. The bright side is there are medications and procedures to take care of this. Send a heart felt get well soon to Diane. I know how scary that had to be.

Glad to hear it was not worse. Many people live daily with an irregular heart rhythm. The Tachy rate, in some cases, if left unchecked or without meds and lifestyle changes, can become an issue.

Roy,

Way to go on making her go to the ER. I am glad the problem was discovered and the proper steps are being taken.
My family will keep you in our thoughts.

Chris

Roy, I'm glad you guys had the good sense to go to the hospital. Surprisingly, some people don't. That had to be so scary! Glad Diane is OK and they found what the problem was.

Roy:
Sure am glad that you had the foresight to take her to the hospital and she is now getting better.
So much of the time none of us will listen to our bodies when something out of the ordinary happens, we just say it will get better instead of getting it checked by a Dr. in the Emergency rooms.
My problems with the heart has always been a heavy pressure in my chest, never any radiating pains which I had always been told was a sign that something was not right with the performance of the heart.
Any abnormality should be checked !!!!

Roy,

I'm glad your wife is better now...you will be in our prayers.

Any explanations/diagnosis why she had low sodium?

Roy,
You will also be in our prayers. I hope that the sodium gets under control and that all turns out well.

Mike

No explanation on the low sodium, if anything I would have thought we both would have to much sodium as we highly season all our food and our salt intake is most likley to high. She also is a big water drinker 8-10 glasses a day so she is getting plenty of fluids. The Drs. said that the condition often occurs as a result of an illness, certain medications like diuretics, excess sweating or a kidney disorder. We are following up with more test this week and the meds seem to be working. Thanks for everyones prayers and good wishes.

Roy,
Know the feeling when the LOYL is having the chest pains... my Dianne also has a slight heart problem (if there is such thing as a SLIGHT heart problem).. she has Atril Fibulations, plus diabetes and pretty severe arthirits.. closest ER to us is about 40 miles and we made the run a couple of weeks back.. her arm was feeling numb, her face was feeling numb and slight breathing problem, plus lots of pressure... she's already had a very slight stroke a few years back, so as you said off to the ER we went.. turned out to be nothing, but couldn't explain all the symptoms..

I'm glad you lady love is going to be okay.. Prayers be with you.
